International Chefs Day 2019 with Worldchefs and Nestlé Professional promotes healthier eating for children

Worldchefs - the World Association of Chefs Societies - and Nestlé Professional have teamed up once again to use International Chefs Day to educate kids around the world about the importance of healthy eating.

VEVEY, October 18, 2019

International Chefs Day on 20 October 2019 offers chefs from around the globe a unique opportunity to create a difference in their local communities through making healthy eating fun and exciting for kids.The two organizations aim to surpass their successful 2018 campaign, which reached over 30’000 children in 56 countries. This is thanks largely to the commitment of the 4’000+ chefs from Worldchefs and Nestlé Professional who each year contribute their time and energy to this educationally focused culinary event.

“Our theme this year is How Healthy Food Works. We want to show how food affects our body internally, building on the themes of the last two years -  Healthy Foods for Growing up and Healthy Foods for Heroes - and going into more depth on different foods and why our bodies need them,” said International Chefs Day Chair, Chef Joanna Ochniak.

Says Reinold Jakobi, Head of Nestlé Professional’s Strategic Business Unit based in Vevey, Switzerland: “We are very proud to be partnering with Worldchefs in bringing the message of healthy eating to children around the world. International Chefs Day activities form an integral part of our commitment to improving nutrition for children. In collaboration with Worldchefs, we aim to increase awareness of the important and increasingly vital role that chefs around the world play in providing healthier meals to children, helping them to eat better, firmly establishing healthy food habits and diets as they grow up.”

This year’s International Chefs Day again partners with Nestlé for Healthier Kids, a global initiative to help 50 million children live healthier lives by 2030. Launched in 2017 this project includes a commitment to accelerate the transformation of Nestlé’s food and beverage portfolio worldwide. That includes adding even more fruits, vegetables, fiber-rich grains and micronutrients, as well as continuing to reduce sugars, salt and saturated fats. It also includes simpler ingredients list and more organic and natural options.
