Celebrating International Chefs Day by Inspiring Children to Grow a Healthy Future
Nestlé Professional has again teamed up with Worldchefs, the World Association of Chefs Societies, to celebrate International Chefs Day by encouraging chefs around the world to host fun-filled workshops that teach children about the importance of healthy eating.
Growing a Healthy Future
This year’s International Chefs Day theme is Growing a Healthy Future! To ensure a healthy life & planet for future generations, it is the utmost importance that children understand the balance between nutrition and sustainability.
Each local animated event is tailored to the children’s age group and interest through an easy-to-use toolkit, that is easily adaptable for distance learning.
“We want to excite our next generation of young cooks and make the event engaging and interesting.” said Emmanuel Lorieux, Nestlé Professional Executive Chef. “We have developed special recipes with games, facts and trivia about this year’s star fruits and vegetables. There are even tips for the children to grow their own vegetables.”
Collaboration is Key
Reinhold Jakobi, SVP and Head of Nestlé Professional’s Strategic Business Unit explained “We continue to be invested in sharing our nutritional and sustainability knowledge and involving the leading chefs across the food industry to promote positive food habits. Working with the Worldchefs organization to make this happen around the world, been a constructive collaboration.”
In 2021, face to face workshops were limited due to COVID-10, however, chefs showed their creativity and made social media posts and videos. The 648 chefs reached over 93,000 children. By November 2021, social media reach was at 183,409.
International Chefs Day continues to partner with the Nestlé for Healthier Kids program (N4HK) a global program that brings together all efforts to support parents and caregivers to raise healthier kids and to inspire children themselves. It promotes healthy eating and lifestyle habits for children aged 3 to 12 years.
