Learn more details.
Providing small and medium out of home businesses with a simple and hygienic way to make quality and customized beverages at the touch of a button, were key benefits for customers when ALDO was launched in 2019. As well, it gives food service customers an alternative choice for single use packaging and thus the possibility to reduce their packaging waste.
“In addition to the great tasting beverages, one of the most immediate and tangible impact that ALDO brings is the ability to reduce packaging waste in terms of single serve,” explained Manuel Aleman, Global Category Leader for Nestlé Professional. “For example, a business could be able to switch from single serve sachets to an ALDO dispenser, which can reduce the plastic packaging. It’s exciting to think about the difference we can make with ALDO in the out of home environment.”
Manuel continues, “Customers tell us that with ALDO, it is a win-win! Their visitors or employees can quickly and easily prepare a variety of beverages with less space and less mess in kitchens and they feel better as they have less single use packaging waste.
Tackling plastic pollution
Plastic is causing a huge problem for the planet. It takes over a century for it to degrade in the environment and according to the UN, the amount of plastic waste entering our waterways is growing and is projected to be 23–37 million tons per year by 2040.
Changes are happening worldwide to tackle plastic waste – from cafés, restaurants and hotels cutting down on using single-use plastics, to companies, organizations, and businesses, like Nestlé Professional, committed to offer innovative packaging that is recyclable, refillable, or even reusable.
Plastic reduction
Today, more than 16,500 ALDO units are already in use in nearly 40 countries dispensing Nescafé, Milo, and Coffee-Mate in out of home channels such as offices, hotels, and corporate events, helping reduce waste in the locations where it is available.
Nestlé Professional will continue promoting the change and expanding the ALDO business to elevate the experience of powdered beverage dispensing as well as to help on reducing packaging waste.
ALDO is part of Nestlé’s five-pillar packaging sustainability strategy as it is designed to be a refillable system, supporting Nestlé’s aim that above 95% of our plastic packaging will be designed for recycling by 2025, with the ambition of getting to 100% recyclable or reusable packaging. Nestlé is focusing on reducing use of packaging materials, redesigning packaging material, supporting the infrastructure that makes recycling easier, and driving new behaviors.
Next year, Nestlé Professional looks to accelerate and improve its ALDO version into a larger capacity canister unit for greater ease of use.
