International Chefs Day green peas

Mark your calendars - October 20th is International Chefs Day

Every year on this date, chefs across the globe come together to celebrate the craft, creativity, and community that define our profession.

Since its founding in 2004, International Chefs Day has grown into a powerful platform for honoring culinary excellence while inspiring, educating, and supporting the next generation through the universal language of food.

For International Chefs Day 2026, Nestlé Professional is proud to partner once again with Worldchefs to bring back the Food Explorers campaign, and this year, we’re taking it further. Building on the success and energy of last year’s activities, the 2026 campaign places a deeper focus on ingredients: where they come from, how they’re grown or harvested, and why they matter to our plates, our planet, and our people.

Why ingredients matter more than ever

In today’s foodservice landscape, understanding ingredients is at the heart of great cooking, sustainable operations, and meaningful menu development. As chefs and foodservice professionals, you already know this instinctively. Every decision you make in the kitchen - from sourcing to technique - shapes not only flavor but also the future of our industry.

That’s why we’re calling on chefs everywhere to share their knowledge, skills, and passion. Whether you run a busy restaurant kitchen, manage a contract catering operation, or lead a college culinary program, your expertise can spark curiosity in young minds and help shape confident, conscientious Food Explorers.

How to get involved in International Chefs Day 2026

You don’t need a grand production to make an impact. Small, authentic actions often create the biggest ripples.

Download the free 2026 Food Explorers Toolkit today. Packed with practical resources designed specifically for busy professionals like you, it includes:

  • Step-by-step workshop guides
  • User-friendly recipes featuring Nestlé Professional hero ingredients
  • Ready-to-use posters and certificates
  • Activity ideas tailored for different settings

Use the toolkit to create experiences that fit your world, a quick classroom session, a hands-on cooking workshop, a local supplier visit, a sustainability-focused activity, or a full celebration event.

October 20 is the official day, but the entire month of October is yours to own. Host activities when they work best for your team, students, or community.

Thought leadership for Foodservice Professionals

International Chefs Day isn’t just about celebration; it is about investment. By engaging young people with real-world culinary knowledge, we’re building a stronger, more sustainable pipeline of talent for the entire out-of-home sector. Chefs who understand ingredients at a deeper level become more innovative on the plate, more responsible with resources, and more effective at delighting guests while controlling costs.

This year’s Food Explorers theme aligns perfectly with the challenges and opportunities facing modern foodservice: traceability, seasonality, nutrition, and environmental responsibility.

Let’s make 2026 our most impactful International Chefs Day yet

Together, as a global community of passionate chefs and foodservice professionals, we can inspire the next generation to explore food with curiosity, creativity, and care. One young chef at a time, we’re building a healthier, more sustainable future.
