Nestlé achievements

• Globally, Nestlé has reduced its water withdrawals by 33% since 2000, while production volume increased by 63%.
• In line with Nestlé's global strategy, Nestlé UK has been working to reduce water usage. In 2009, water consumption in UK and Ireland factories fell by 27%.

• To produce clean waste water from the production of Nescafé^® speciality coffees at our Dalston factory, we invested in the order of £845,000 in an advanced treatment plant. The by-product from this process is used as fertiliser by local farmers.
• Avanca factory in Portugal (supplier of various beverage whiteners) reuses the water used in processing for irrigation and for various washing applications.
