TOP TIPS:• Save energy by switching off appliances at the socket rather than leaving them on standby • Insulate your buildings thoroughly – everything from cavity wall insulation, to lagging tanks and pipes. Double glazing windows also help to conserve heat energy through the colder months, as well as saving you money • Choose energy efficient appliances when it is time to replace your old ones • Remember not to leave appliances like mobile phone or laptops on charge unnecessarily • Ten to twenty five per cent of a home's heat is lost through windows. Close all curtains and blinds at night to keep your house warm • Swap your light bulbs for energy saving bulbs. If everyone in the UK installed just one energy saving bulb, we would save enough CO² to fill the Albert Hall over 1,900 times • Thaw foods and cut vegetables into small pieces before cooking. They will take less time to cook and save energy.
